Phillip C. McKenna is the oldest of Nicholas Royal McKenna and Dorothy Rundle's nine children. He was born in Lansing in 1941 and grew up on his parent's 160 acre farm on McKenna Road three and a half miles west of Hubbardston, Michigan in North Plains Township, Ionia County. He graduated from St. John Baptist High School -- Class of 1959. With a BA from Central Michigan University, he taught Middle School and coached baseball for five years. After graduate studies in urban planning, he had a 50-year career as a community planning consultant to scores of Midwest municipalities. From 1986 to 2016, he owned the municipal

consulting firm McKenna Associates, which continues today headquartered in Detroit area with more than 50 employees. Since his retirement, McKenna has researched and written several accounts of his Cusack, McKenna, and Rundle ancestors. In 2001, he was instrumental in founding the Hubbardston area Historical Society. He and his wife of 50 plus years, Carol Williams McKenna live in Farmington Hills, Michigan and enjoy time with their three very successful daughters and their five brilliant grandchildren.
